Rochester Peerless View Camera - 1887

Modeled after photos and an old instruction brochure.
Material in the original camera was mahogany, cherry wood, artificial leather, and nickel-plated metal parts. Lens in brass.
The Rochester Optical Company was bought up by Kodak in 1903.

The photographer is modeled after August Strindberg,- A famous Swedish writer at the time.

Darlot was a popular french lens for portraits. These were of a revolutionary type called "Petzval lenses" that  shortened the exposure time from 10 minutes to 30 seconds.
 It gave a good sharpness in the middle, but vignetting at the edges.
